The Practice of Observation
One of the most powerful capabilities that we possess as humans lies in our ability to tune in and observe. This is what allows us to see the world around us in full capacity. It grants us the clarity to both see ourselves and see within ourselves.
This practice of paying attention brings mindfulness to the forefront of our lives. It is this mindfulness that promotes harmony in our interactions with ourselves and the world. When we pay attention, observe closely and listen with intent, we approach every action with elegance and begin to harmonize the dissonance that exists between us and our exterior environment.
In this sense, we begin to awaken to the present moment. Rather than moving through life haphazardly, we look at our environment and situation with a sense of wonder and awe.
We watch our thoughts and actions at a distance, separate ourselves from them and then recognize the unity that exists. We cultivate gratitude for being alive and take a moment to marvel at the perfectness of it. From this standpoint, we choose to explore the highest possibilities for ourselves and others.
When we observe and pay attention, we are true to ourselves. We trust, we heal, we listen and we respect. We show up for the people and things in our lives that are most important every day and in every moment.
